A Must Have for Every Hobby Crafter

It's Alive Once More! I own several generations of this type of little loom ... Weave-It, Weavette, ... and have enjoyed over the years - on and off - to make my squares and then make something out of the squares. It is simply fascinating how this technique has spellbound several generations of crafters. A Great Company Delivers an Even Better Loom I'm so glad that a reputable company as Schacht picked up the patent and now gives this little loom another life! The loom is what it has ever been: A fun, quick, easy to do a craft that you can take along almost anywhere. And now I think the loom is even better than before: Initially I was very sceptical about the plastic frame ... I thought I'd prefer the wooden make of most of the old ones. However, after getting my Zoom Loom I started to ...

  • Something to keep your hands busy

The zoom loom is the modern day version of a 1950s craft machine called the weave it. The old one was made of wood with nails as the posts. This one is made of strong plastic. However, there are other differences. The old one had no bends or give to it and was hard on your hands (no ergonomic design). The zoom loom has a bunch of improvements in that direction. I have both and like this one for working with.... the weave-it has a cooler look as a display. They both cost about the same.

  • Modern take on the Potholder Loom

The Zoom Loom is a well-conceived and manufactured product. It is packaged nicely, has good instructions, is easy to use and is durable. All in all a great product and may be easier to use for many than the metal or plastic potholder loom. it is, however, about 3 times as expensive which is a factor. That said I am not a fan BECAUSE I am "old school". I am a professional artist and spent the first 10 years of my career as a weaver (using large multi-harness floor looms). I also learned to weave on metal potholder looms in summer camp in the 1950s. I simply have a preference for the old wooden or metal pin looms or potholder looms (which are difficult to obtain and frequently expensive). As a modern product the ZOOM LOOM is a worthy replacement, if your budget allows.

  • Perfect Loom for Begginers

I am just starting to learn how to weave and the School Loom is perfect for that. It is simple to assemble, lightweight and easy to handle. It's a good size yet, compact enough that you can work with it most anywhere at home. The instruction manual is quite helpful and teaches weaving basics. In addition, you can find many videos in YouTube on how to assemble and use this loom.

  • What a loom!!

I received this loom and in 2 days, I have made 25 squares. Very easy to use. I am addicted to it already. Highly recommend it. Nice to hold compared to the vintage weavettes. Great way to use up left over yarn from projects. You use very little yarn to make a square. John Mullarkey is such a great weaver and anything with his name on it is a great product. Have some of his videos to learn card weaving. Thank you very much to the Schacht Spindle company for all improvements and it is made in the U.S.A.
