About this product

Product Information

As he is driving home from a minister's conference, Baptist minister Don Piper collides with a semi-truck that crosses into his lane. He is pronounced dead at the scene. For the next 90 minutes, Piper experiences heaven where he is greeted by those who had influenced him spiritually. He hears beautiful music and feels true peace. Back on earth, a passing minister who had also been at the conference is led to pray for Don even though he knows the man is dead. Piper miraculously comes back to life and the bliss of heaven is replaced by a long and painful recovery. For years Piper kept his heavenly experience to himself. Finally, however, friends and family convinced him to share his remarkable story.

Reviews
"Captivating and well written, this books holds your attention and often holds your heart. Don tells his story, his experience that all Christians long to hear. I appreciate especially his honesty and candid feelings of dealing with his recovery and pain. Don's experience will lift your spirit and soften any pain."--Ron Hill, pastor, The Fellowship of San Antonio"A friend handed me this book at about midnight, and come two or three in the morning, I was still reading, my heart pumping, bumps on my arms, the hairs on the back of my neck on end. It's a wonderful and inspiring story that brightens your perspective, giving you a sense of security, clarity and warmth."--Donald Miller, author, Blue Like Jazz"Don Piper's ninety minutes in heaven changed his life and his perspective. Reading his book will give you the assurance that God is faithful to bring you through even the most horrific of circumstances. May his eyewitness account of the hope that lies before you change your perspective of this life as well!"--Michael Carter, CBN chief financial officer

    Inspiring true story, great book!

Excellent book, detailing true events that happened to the author. After being in a deadly crash involving many vehicles, in which he author was pronounced dead by 4 teams of EMT's, he miraculously came back to life. The book describes the accident, what he experienced while dead, and the aftermath from his other injuries. I personally heard him speak and met him at an event in my hometown several years ago. Very inspiring! Includes many relevant things that the movie does not. I highly recommend this book!

Title is very misleading. This book is about his hospital recovery not his trip to Heaven. Feel taken advantage of because of the deceiving title.

  • An Incredible Journey of Overcoming!

As a born-again Christian I have long been interested in after-death experiences and have read several accounts by individuals to whom it has happened. Never in my life, however, have I ever read of someone who suffered such catastrophic injuries and was sent back from heaven to tell about it. Don Piper's car was run over and literally smashed to pieces by a semi-truck, with him still in it. This is the true story of Don Piper's mental, emotional and physical agony after he was sent back to earth, his anger, doubt and longing to return to Heaven so he could leave the suffering behind. To have survived the unbelievable, excruciating pain he endured at the beginning of his hospital stay, and throughout all the years of subsequent medical intervention, is literally a miracle in ...

  • A title that grabs you, but the book does it no justice

After the recent passing of a family member, a friend suggested this book to help me through my grief. Though well written, it was not what I expected. It is basically a synopsis of one man's spiritual journey during a long year of hospitalization and recovery. What I expected, was a descriptive recall of the author's visit to Heaven, and the subsequent impact it had on his daily life. The content, in my opinion, fell short of the books title. I would rate it as a good book. However, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for grief support.

  • Quite by Accident, if you will...

This book happened upon us quite by accident shortly after my mother passed 2 weeks before Christmas ('07). My younger sister was in a book store and an unknown force 'pushed' her to the 'other side' of the shop. There she saw it, told me about it and I ordered 2 copies, for her and myself. From what little she reviewed on the book rack, we thought it to be something near what mom had experienced just months before her final journey. Actually, we were both quite disheartened by the little time spent on his 'trip' to heaven. My mother had probably given us that much information on her short trip she had taken and why she pushed my sister to that side of the bookstore, I don't know.. Maybe to prove to us that she wasn't imagining or dreaming it.... I expected more of the book to be ...
