Move more air

The package features a 12" L7T subwoofer wired for 2-ohm impedance. The sub's square cone gives you up to 20% more surface area than a conventional round sub, moving more air for greater bass response. The injection-molded polypropylene cone and rubber surround handle up to 600 watts RMS output (1200 watts peak).

Tough enclosure

The rugged medium-density fiberboard enclosure is covered in black carpet that looks good and stands up to the car environment. With a height of only 6.5 inches, the 49L7TDF122 tucks neatly under many truck seats. When you're looking for maximum bass from minimum space, this enclosure is ready to kick out the jams.

Features

Overview: The Kicker 49L7TDF122 down-firing subwoofer enclosure is loaded with one 12" L7T Solo-Baric subwoofer. The L7T (Thin) subwoofer can provide deep powerful bass in a compact enclosure, while taking up minimal mounting space.

Down-Firing Enclosure: The sealed down-firing enclosure is made of heavy-duty MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) with extensive internal bracing, providing exceptional acoustic efficiency and deep powerful bass. The enclosure is covered in sleek black carpeting for added protection and a refined look. Its compact, down-firing form allows it to be mounted in cargo areas, or under seats. Four rubber spacers are included that mount to the bottom of the enclosure, providing additional enclosure height.

Speaker Terminals: A single pair of spring-posts are mounted on the underside of the enclosure in a recessed terminal cup, accepting pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge. The subwoofer's dual voice coils are internally wired to present a 2Ω load at the spring posts.

Power: The Kicker 12" L7T subwoofer can handle 300W-600W RMS (1200W peak).

Square Design: By making the Solo-Baric square, Kicker is giving you the most possible cone area (Sd) for a given size baffle, 16% to 20% more area than a conventional round subwoofer. More cone area means the Solo-Baric L7T moves more air, resulting in louder, deeper bass.

Cone Material: The square SoloKon design, with 360-degree back bracing, is a unique one-piece construction, using injection molded polypropylene that moves as a lightweight piston, for improved control. The cone remains rigid, minimizing cone flex and distortion. A rear cone brace integrates into the cone with a continuous contact perimeter weld, which improves strength and resistance to deformation under pressure.

Cooling: Kicker's unique Forced Air Cooling provides airflow around the voice coil based on cone motion, drawing cool air in and forcing hot air out. A UniPlateT solid pole piece and backplate also provide excellent heat dissipation around the voice coil and magnet.

Surround: The tough, flexible Santoprene rubber surround has a long-throw, positive-roll design, which controls extreme cone excursion and is highly tear-resistant. The corners of the surround are ribbed to ensure linear cone motion. The surround is stitched to the reinforced cone edge, making separation between them virtually impossible, even in the harshest conditions.

Customer Q&A

Q
Can the driver in this setup be rewired/reconfigured from a 2 ohm to a 4 ohm load? The raw driver equivalent to this is a dual voice coil version. Just want to make sure before I pull the trigger as the amp I'm considering is not stable at 2 ohms - thank you!

A
Greetings Eric. Thank you for your question. It is a dual voice coil 4 ohm driver. It is wired in the box to 2 ohms, it could only be re-wired to 8 ohms, not 4. If your amp is a 2 channel and you plan to bridge the 2 into a mono, yea its most likely not stable at 2 ohms.

Does it fit 2022 Toyota Tacoma double cab?

A
So we do not have notes and measurements for a sub location in your pickup. Because of that, I will post the box dimensions below and if you can make the specs work for your space, this should be a solid sub: Enclosure dimensions: 23.88"W x 6.63"H x 15.13"D

Q
What size amp do I need?
tony f  Oct 07, 2023

A
For the absolute best performance and reliability with the Kicker 49L7TDF122 Anthony, we want to use an amplifier that delivers 600-watts RMS maximum into a 2-ohm load. The Kicker 46CXA800.1T in the first link below is a perfect match! It has optional speaker-level inputs (with RCA adapter harness) and an optional (not included with purchase) remote bass knob to dial-in your sound if you prefer. Make sure to pair the correct CK4 wiring kit in the second link below, you get a nice discount when purchasing with the amplifier! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646CX81T/Kicker-46CXA800-1T.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CK4/Crutchfield-CK4.html

What amp is recommended to be paired with this?

A
For information on selecting the best amp for your subs, I recommend reaching out to an advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
Would the SKAR RP-800.1D | 800 Watt Monoblock Car Amplifier be a good fit for this speaker?
tybreezy  Feb 24, 2023
1 answer
A
I cannot advise on products we do not carry sadly Ty, but I can try to help. If the RP-800.1D is rated for 800-watts RMS at 1 ohm, it will most likely be a good choice to drive the Kicker 49L7TDF122 as we can speculate it will deliver around the 600-watt mark at a 2-ohm load. This is no guarantee, however. The Kicker can handle 600-watts RMS so in theory you should have a good pair here. As always, proper setup and tuning of your amp will be needed to avoid and damage and guarantee a long service life. This particular Kicker box is a stellar choice if you want big bass but do not want to give up a ton of storage space!

Q
I am running a Kenwood 502-1 amplifier rated at 500 Watts RMS will it drive this speaker sufficiently?
doug  Feb 20, 2023
1 answer
A
The Kenwood Excelon X502-1 am in the link below is a great amp to power the Kicker 49L7DF122, Doug. While you can send the Kicker a maximum of 100-watts RMS the speaker will sound great with the 500-watts the Kenwood pumps out. You do have another 100-watts RMS of headroom in case you did want to upgrade the amp later on for peak performance, that's also great news! https://www.crutchfield.com/S-ywuVsHKIUYl/p_113X5021/Kenwood-Excelon-X502-1.html
