Overview: The Roomba Combo® j5+ (j557020) from iRobot is a Wi-Fi connected, self-emptying combination robot vacuum and mop. With Roomba's 4-Stage Cleaning System which includes powerful suction and a unique mop, the Combo® j5+ automatically cleans the rooms you want when you want. iRobot's Genius Technology and PrecisionVision Navigation helps the robot vacuum recognize and avoid common objects, such as cords, socks and pet waste, eliminating the need to pick up before you clean. The iRobot Home App can customize your cleaning schedule, while voice assistants Amazon Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant let you start cleaning with a simple voice command. The Combo® j5+ comes with the Clean Base® Automatic Dirt Disposal and charging station, a dust bin for vacuuming and a combination bin for mopping, two dirt disposal bags, a reusable microfiber mopping pad, and spare High-Efficiency Filter and Edge-Sweeping Brush.

Cleaning Power: The Roomba Combo® j5+ cleans your floors effectively with its premium 4-Stage Cleaning System. Dirt Detect™ Technology recognizes areas where dirt has accumulated and gives them a more thorough cleaning. Dual Multi-surface Rubber Brushes, one loosens the dirt while the other lifts, help tackle tough dirt and grime on any surface. The Roomba automatically adjusts for hard surfaces or carpet, so there's no need to change the settings. The rubber brushes stay in contact with wood, tile, and carpet to pick up the dirt more efficiently than bristles. In addition, they avoid tangles from human and pet hair, so there's less maintenance. A rotating Edge-Sweeping Brush sweeps dirt, pet hair, and dust from along the wall edges and in corners. The Combo® j5+'s Power-Lifting Suction, 10x more powerful than the Roomba 600 series, pulls in the dirt and debris, while a High-Efficiency Filter captures 99% of pollen, mold, dust mites, and other allergens. The dirt and debris are captured in a removable bin, which is automatically emptied into the included Clean Base® Automatic DirtDisposal. The bin can be hand-rinsed with water. To mop the floor, simply change from the dust bin to the combo bin, fill it with water, put on the mopping pad, and start mopping.

Clean Base®: The Combo® j5+ comes with the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal and charging station where the vacuum charges its battery and stores when not in use. At the end of a job, or when the removable bin becomes full, Roomba returns to the Clean Base where the contents of the dirt bin are automatically emptied into the base. When the bag becomes full (indicated by a glowing red LED on the front panel), simply remove the self-sealing bag, dispose into the trash can, and put a new one in the base. The Combo j5+ can empty itself into the Clean Base for up to 60 days. The Clean Base should be placed in an area with no obstacles within 1.5 feet to either side, or within 4 feet in front. To prevent the robot from falling downstairs, Clean Base should be placed at least 4 feet from stairs. The base plugs into an AC outlet via its removable 6' power cord.

Mopping Mode: The Combo® j5+ comes with an interchangeable Combo Bin and reuseable mopping pad for cleaning hardwood and hard surface floors. Just remove the dust bin and replace it with the Combo Bin full of water, attach the mopping pad, and start a cleaning mode. You can use just water or an iRobot-approved cleaning solution in the Combo Bin. Setting No Mop Zones in the iRobot Home app will help you avoid mopping over carpets. The Combo Bin can be used for vacuuming, as it has a dust bin in addition to a water tank.

Imprint® Smart Mapping: Roomba Combo® j5+ uses powerful Imprint® Smart Mapping technology that learns your home's layout and creates Smart Maps of each room. During the initial non-cleaning Mapping Run, the robot vacuum travels in straight lines back and forth throughout the room, using its built-in camera to learn where the furniture, obstacles, and stairs are located. It also learns the boundaries for each room. It may require several Mapping Runs to become totally efficient in cleaning your home. Sensors detect objects and hazards and avoids them, adding them to the map. When a new hazard is detected, the Combo® j5+ will send a photo of the hazard to the iRobot Home app, and remembers how you want the vacuum to react the next time it's encoutered. The Combo® j5+ offers cleaning of individual rooms, and even specific areas within a room. With Targeted Room Cleaning, you can instruct Roomba to clean specific rooms on demand or on a personalized schedule. Targeted Area Cleaning lets you create Clean Zones (under the dining room table) Keep Out Zones (near the pet's food and water bowls), and No Mop Zones (to avoid mopping over carpets). These targeted zones can be recalled in the iRobot Home app, or by voice command with Amazon Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant.

Reactive Sensor Technology: The robot vacuum is equipped with numerous sensors to help it maneuver the natural obtacles in your home while it cleans. The front of the unit has a camera that detects new objects in its path, and sends photos to the app to get your response. If the unit bumps into a chair leg or wall, the impact is softened by the smart bumper on the front, and a sensor causes it to turn away from the obstacle. Six "cliff sensors" along the front and sides let the vacuum know that it is nearing a dropoff, such as stairs or a balcony, and the unit will back away from the ledge. Wall Follow Sensors allow the Roomba to follow the path of the wall as it cleans. Other sensors also detect the clearance under chairs and couches so the vacuum doesn't get hung up. Dirt Detect sensors also recognize areas of your floors that need more attention, and those that don't.

Onboard Controls: The Combo® j5+ has a single onboard control button on the top. One press wakes up the vacuum to begin cleaning, or to pause and resume. Holding the button down for 2-5 seconds during a cleaning session ends the job and sends the robot vacuum back to the charging station.

Regular Maintenance: Periodically, the Roomba needs regular care and cleaning to maintain optimum performance. The bin bag should be replaced when full. The vacuum's dirt and Combo bins should be rinsed out with water as needed. The High-Efficiency Filters should be gently cleaned once a week--more frequently if you have pets. It should be replaced every couple of months. The Full Bin sensor and Front Caster Wheel need cleaning every two weeks. The Edge-Sweeping and Multi-Surface brushes require cleaning every month, and replaced every 12 months. The camera window, sensors, and charging contacts should be wiped clean once a month. The mopping pad should be hand- or washing machine-cleaned after every mopping job, and replaced after approximately 30 washes.

Power: The Roomba Combo® j5+ is powered by a user-replaceable Lithium-ion rechargeable battery. The battery fully charges in approximately 2 hours while docked in the Clean Base. Initially, the battery should be charged at least 3 hours. The Combo® j5+ supports Recharge and Resume. When the battery is running low, the vacuum returns to the charging station to recharge, then picks up where it left off, until the task is complete. The battery should last up to 400 charge cycles before being replaced with a new battery obtained from the manufacturer.

Wi-Fi: The Combo® j5+ connects to your home's 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network. You can control it with the iRobot Home App on your smartphone or tablet.

iRobot Home App: The iRobot Home app is essential to the operation of the Combo® j5+. With the app loaded to your smartphone or tablet, you can choose when and where to clean, and create custom cleaning schedules. When cleaning is complete, you can view a Cleaning Report in the app, showing the date and time of the cleaning job, the length/duration, and total area (square feet) cleaned. The app learns your scheduling preferences, and can even suggest extra cleanings during peak pollen season, or when your pets typically shed the most. iRobot Genius Software updates are available through the app, and can be downloaded to the Roomba. These updates can add new features, as well as fix bugs, and keep it up to date. The iRobot Home app works with iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 14.0 or later, and with iPad with iPadOS 14.0 or later. It is also compatible with Android devices (version varies with device).

Voice Assistants: The Combo® j5+ can be operated by voice command through your favorite Voice Assistant. You can ask Siri, Amazon Alexa, or Google Assistant to ask Roomba to start cleaning, and the robot vacuum will begin a cleaning cycle.
